Menu design for Wabi Sabi Sushi

The following menu design features an abstract Japanese Woodblock print by the late Toshi Moshida, entitled “Seashore” overlaid with a fisherman and his fish, in lustrous metallic foil. The term Wabi Sabi refers to a traditional Japanese aesthetic which is nicely described as this: “If an object or expression can bring about, within us, a sense of serene melancholy and a spiritual longing, then that object could be said to be wabi-sabi.” – Juniper, Andrew (2003). Wabi Sabi: The Japanese Art of Impermanence. The images in foil loosely reference Hemingway’s forlorn classic Old Man and the Sea. Printed on heavy 60# silk finished recycled stock.
